Digital twin - fusion of the digital and physical worlds

The concepts of the digital twin and digital shadow are some of the most important elements of ‘Industrie 4.0’. There is currently no generally valid definition for either of the terms. To put it simply, they are virtual models of a real product or piece of production equipment (machine or system) and their link to the real image. By combining the virtual and physical worlds, it is possible to analyse data and monitor systems, and in this way avoid shortcomings before they even occur. To enable the exact digital image to be created, companies must first implement an integrated engineering process.

At Feynsinn, we work out methods and develop special software tools by means of which a digital twin can be produced as accurately as possible. This calls for various software systems, so as to be able to digitally reproduce the many different aspects of a real product or piece of production equipment. The basis is a standardised method of storing information in the digital models and making it reusable. Securing the digital information flows between the different software systems plays a central role here. When providing implementation support for a digital twin, we always take the special features of the existing IT infrastructure and the company structure into account, so as to keep any additional costs for licence procurement and changes to the company structure to a minimum. In order to generate significant added value for the company, it is also necessary to enable the users to effectively use the new methods and tools. We hold personalised training sessions to impart the necessary knowledge.

In addition, the necessary implementation measures and qualification measures are implemented by iSILOG.
